Its been a hectic 2 weeks since we announced giffgaff and we’re now very close to launching the next phase of our service.
If all goes according to plan, we’ll be releasing an updated version of the website on Thursday next week – this will add a proper registration facility and forums to the current site and allow us to start some “people powered” conversations about how we take the business forward.
The forums will initially be used to get your feedback on a number of un-finished and un-decided aspects of giffgaff. There’ll be discussion boards on our rebate programme, customer service and the website itself. There’ll also be one on pricing, which I think will be the most active of all – especially after a post from Kylie that is due to go up on Monday……
So if you have a point of view – sign up and share it with everyone. As a website registrant, you’ll also get advanced info on new features, launch plans and how to get hold of our very first batch of SIM cards.
When we launch the update next week, we’ll have a new “backend” to our site – so we’ll need to move all the blog content on to the new system. Whilst we do that there will be a couple days where we won’t be able to make new posts or accept comments – sorry about that – we’ll be back as soon as we can.
If you’re wondering when we’ll launch our mobile service, the answer is still an enigmatic “before Christmas” – however preparations are going well.
This week we passed a couple of major milestones - we got our payment card system accredited (The man from Barclays – he say yes!) and we also got our test SIMs working on the O2 network (alas only on a testbed in one building on the Slough Trading Estate). Both of these are big deals on the way to launch, so we end the week with a collective team sigh of relief.
See you on the other side of the update.
Mike
