by handy giff-staffer gaffer on 03-October-2009 01:37

In the spirit of our open culture here at gifffgaff, we’d like to introduce you to the team. But instead of just the ‘stuff we’ve done before’, we’ve also included a Little Known Fact (LKF, if you will) to make it a bit more personal. We humbly introduce you to the movers and shakers in the giffgaff microcosm:

Mike Fairman, Gaffer (@mikefairman)
Mike previously headed up the New Product Development Team at O2, where he launched the O2 Home Broadband as well as mobile products the Bluebook, The O2 Joggler calendar and O2’s co-creation mobile application community O2 Litmus. LKF: Mike met his future wife whilst giving marks out of 10 for a tin of dog food.

Mark Stansfield, Chairman
Mark has garnered a high-profile career in the telecommunications industry with brands like BT, One2One, BT Cellnet and O2. He now joins giffgaff as chairman but will continue his position as non-executive director of O2 UK. LKF: Mark has a decidedly non-telecomms degree in parasitology and entomology.

Kylie Evans, Chief of Marketing (@kylieinlondon)
Kylie was previously the Head of Channels Marketing at ITV responsible for strategic positioning, branding and marketing of digital channels ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV; prior to that spent 8 years at BSkyB, most recently launching Sky Games, Sky Cast and spent 12 months working on Picnic. LKF: Before she moved to the UK, she competed in Australia in State League footy.

Rob Gotlieb, Digital Guru (@bobgotlieb)
With over 10 years online commercial experience and hard rocking digital media and partnership experience, Rob spent four years at Napster as Head of Marketing launching the brand ahead of iTunes, successfully establishing it as the number 1 online music subscription service in the UK. He also launched Passionato.com and held key digital roles at BT.com and MP3.com. LKF: He accidentally lived rent-free in a six-bedroom, £2.5M mansion in London for a year by himself.

Tom Rainsford, Proposition and Product Theorist
Tom joins us recently from a position as brand manager at T-Mobile pre-pay. Highly notable for re-launching T-Mobile’s top up rewards portfolio, responsible for integrating product messaging into all advertising. LKF: Tom tried out for the Crystal Palace youth squad football team (but, erm, chose giffgaff over a full-time professional football career, naturally).

Kim Faura, Brand Executive (@kimfaura)
Our very own human guide to giffgaff guidelines, Kim’s in search of consistency among all giffgaff content and communications. Kim was also previously an Innovation Brand Manager at PepsiCo for the local Iberian brand Matutano (our equivalent to Walkers crisps in the UK) and was responsible for launching Sunbites in Spain and developed the Iberian website Pepsico.es. LKF: Impersonated Elvis once on a Barcelona TV channel.

Claire Kavanagh, Loyalty & Retention Manager (@clairekav)
Claire has spent over 10 years in the telco industry. Starting out at Telecom NZ before moving to the UK where she has worked for T-Mobile and most recently for Blyk, where she was responsible for developing customer lifecycle strategy and initiating campaigns to drive retention. LKF: Broke a Guinness world record in September.

Chris Shaw, Chief Technology Officer
Chris has worked for 14 years in the mobile sector in UK and Europe. Recently Chris headed the Delivery team for Meteor Mobile which successfully rolled out 3G and Mobile Broadband across Ireland. LKF: He once had a job guarding Princess Diana’s toilet.

Anthony Eckersley, Chief of Finance (@aeckersley)
Anthony was previously Head of Pay & Go finance at O2 supporting the Marketing team for all planning forecasting and propositions. He was involved in launching propositions like Top-Up Surprises and Favourite Place. Prior to O2 Anthony worked in a number of Finance roles across Europe for Baxter Healthcare. LKF: Anthony has one foot ½ a size smaller than the other.

Cameron Black – Head of Development
Cameron, Head of Development at giffgaff, is responsible for delivering changes to software, building a roadmap of these and delivering them with a cheeky grin. He joins giffgaff from O2 Fixed Broadband where he launched O2 Broadband and spent 3 years designing its strategy and architecture, specifically what network gets used and how it all fits together. LKF: Abseiled down the radio tower at BT Labs in Martlesham Heath for charity and landed on both feet!

Robbie Hearn – Member Experience Champion (@robsticks)
Robbie holds a dual role at giffgaff: 1. Customer service - answering how giffgaff addresses this solution and 2. Customer relationship communications. He’ll be serving up all the messages regarding your SIM and experience via SMS, emails, customer communications. Ex Head of Retention at Be Broadband where he established new ways for customers to get involved. LKF: Very competitive 10-pin bowler, represented Cambridge 1985, won the coach & fours national 10 pin bowling championship...and resulting his right thumb is twice the size of his left.

Michael Fernandes - Head of Operations
Michael has an extensive track record within demanding, fast moving and challenging environments. Customer experience is his passion and he has a solid reputation for delivery and improving performance of services. He is very excited by giffgaff as he believes we are at a tipping point where there will be huge cultural change as phone technology has evolved to enable this. LKF: Michael has already been given his last rites.

Sheena Saini, Team Champion
With 5 years experience as a trainee lawyer, Sheena most recently worked with the NHS on a budget of £26 million and helped secure a contract to set up a new health centre in Berkshire. LKF: Sheena once appeared in a TV and cinema commercial about flour.

We’ll all be updating the blog over the next few months, so feel free to get acquainted, drop us a line below our posts or send the guys on Twitter a tweet or through our official @giffgaff account with thoughts, suggestions or questions.

Good to add links to each bio - some of the team are on linked-in, for example, which gives lots of background with no extra work.
