Why would you say that the Map does not pan as move? I use a G1 and the Maps application does pan as the point you are at changes; unless, you have moved the map, manually, to another location. If you have done that, all you need to do is select My Location from the menu and it goes back to tracking your location.
If you are actually talking about the map following you around while also giving the next set of direction (turn-by-turn navigation), then that is only supported in the US at the moment (though there are various workarounds to enable it to various degrees outside the US).
Rob, You must of tapped on the map to get the map to follow you around. Tap on the "menu" button and the tap on the "my location" button, then it will pan the screen.
It makes me laugh when reading all the reviews on the android software vs iphone. 99% of all the reviews are from people that have iphones, so there all bias.. People need to take there Apple blinkers off and have an open mind.
I just want google to give us brits google nav and voice.
I like my N1... however having never had an iPhone it's hard for me to compare the two accurately.
I am getting into google (I use gmail, calendar, voice, maps) and like the way the system hangs together.
What's bad about the N1? Simple... Battery life.
However there are some very, very good profile switching programs (I use toggle switching) that have put me into a 2 day timeframe.
I still have the ability to kill the battery in 4 hours if I feel like it!
The recent update to (2.1) has cured the issues I initially had (screen calibration going out of whack).
My next purchase (if I ever have some spare money!) will be the desktop charger, although it doesn't allow synching.. I'm only after the charging really.
So after a months ownership... would I buy it again? Sure but I tend to get the latest buzz because I'm a sheep
hmm well its not the fastest, its one of the fastest jermin. like htc hd2 which has the same processor as the G1. and actually there is going to be phones with 1.5ghz processors so it wont be oe of the fastest afterall as Qualcomm anounced they will release 1.5ghz phone with dual processor and its been rumered tat its goig the be in the new coming htc scorpion. but i have to admit its the best phone with 1ghz processor out there.
