It would be handy to have 1 account with multiple sims in it sharing one pool of credit. Then each sim doesnt have to be topped up separately.

If you think about it, that could be pretty confusing for the different people using the phones.

It might also cause some dilemmas in the billing department, as people with such accounts would naturally expect that they were getting giffgaff to giffgaff calls for free between each other, even if they passed the 3 month condition for topping up on most of the individual SIMs.

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

Hmmm, yes, all kinds of diffecult little problems would crop up that way. 5 phones, and only one is used for 'external' calls. So only that phone needs a top up. Do the other 4 phones (on the same account) then still get free calls?

Must be a nightmare from the back-end keeping track of this as well.

Maybe they don't 'share' a money pot as such, but are just managed, i.e. topped up from one account. So each still have it's own pool of money.

Otherwise, in the small business example, it might also be diffecult to keep track of the calls your employees are making.

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

Hey, i suggest to copy the way of doing of this guys : localanywhere.truphone.com/ . They give you the posibility to have more SIMs is one account and each SIM has a separate credit account and separate options panel . ( But their prices are rubbish :smileyhappy:) ). So, we should copy everything good from the others and adapt it to our needs.

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

As I see it, the main point here is, a shared Credit base.

I.e. 3 SIMs, all use the same credit pool, of the master account.

Kudos this post if it was helpful :smileyhappy:

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

I'd be very intested in only having to log in once to register and view the whole family. I'm not so sure about all feeding from the same balance as this could lead to arguements. I would however like to see the introduction of some sort of family tariff as there are five of us in my family and although I would like to give the kids axxess to all the mobile services £10 per child per month is a lot of money. At the moment, assuming the kids are ok with it, I am planning to only top up £10 per 3 months per child. I know that for two of my children access to facebook is essential. I have however discussed the idea o fthem getting thier friends on GiffGaff so that they can chat and text each other for free.

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

With Orange each SIM or phone has an account.  However, on their web site, you can set up one login and then add several accounts to it.

I had just one login from where I could administer the accounts for myself and my children.  It allowed me to check balances, top-up, change packages, etc. There was no facility to share a balance across SIMs which wasn't a problem for me.

If you could do something similar on giffgaff (i.e. have one login from where you can administer several accounts) that would be a great improvement.

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

we used to be with FamilyMobile until now - one account but 4 sims. Main account gets topped up and then account holder decides how much money, if any to send to other sims. Simple idea I think, one person is in full control of the whole account, if you want you can set up auto top-ups for sub accounts but limit them to say £5 every 30 days. But the way it is available now is still fine, bit more complicated but it's not a drama. Put simply - I was just about to sign with t-mobile for 3 unlimited handsets about £35 each pm, boy, am I glad I came across your website...

Re: One Account with Multiple SIMs

This is something i was waiting for a VERY long time, the uses of this are astronomical as its all on PAYG and all the users will have free calls between them effectivley with texts aswell :smileyvery-happy:
