I am porting my existing phone number from another network to giffgaff. Will the number still be recognised as a giffgaff number so other users calling me will get the calla/texts for free?
Reason I ask is that I have a number originally assigned to Vodafone. I switched over to o2. However, on some networks when they call me it appears as "Vodafone Mobile" on the bill, even though I'm no longer with them.

It should do, and it's much less likely to be wrong when it's the same network.
In fact I'm a bit surprised you've had the problem at all, or are you talking about from other providers than mobile networks?

Yes, I know it "should" work... But does it actually?
Is anybody using a number ported in to giffgaff that was originally with another provider (Voda, o2, Orange, T-mobile, 3), and if so are calls to it from other giffgaff sims free?
If nobody has tried this, I will try and see and report back!

I have ported by old number to giffgaff and have made giffgaff-to-giffgaff calls since the port. I can assure you that I have not been charged for these calls. I have also been called by other giffgaff users since I ported and they have not been charged to call me.
You don't have anything to worry about and if, for some reason, you or your mate did get charged for a giffgaff-to-giffgaff call, I'm sure that "ask an agent" would get those guys from Derry on the case toot sweet!

I just happened to be porting my Vodafone number this very day. How ironic ![]()
