its been around 4 hours and my SIM stil hasnt been activated, it says in 'my giffgaff' Activation in progress. How long will it take?

Have you tried it in a phone yet? Might need to switch the phone on and off afew times as well.

Sometimes the details in 'my giffgaff' cab be a little behind the actual status of your account.

are you sure you have correctly topped up?

btw if you have got the sim from a friend the bonus £5 could take some while.

yes I topped up £10 straight away. Do you think I should wait?

That does seem rather a long time for the activation - it should normally only take minutes.  Might be worth asking an agent to see if they can chase it up (hopefully you will be able to do so while the SIM is still in its "Activation in progress" phase - if not try messaging vincent here on the forums and he can escalate it).
