Could not activate cellular data network

"Could not activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service"

Oh yes I am!  I recently downloaded IOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS about a week ago. I have just noticed  that I can't connect over 3G. Tried "SETTINGS" to 2020 but message back "problems dealing with your request." Tried switch off/switch on, still no good. Can only connect over Wi-Fi.  Enable 3G =ON, Cellular Data =ON, APN=idata.o2.co.uk. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

Re: Could not activate cellular data network

FULL SETTINGS FOR INTERNET AND MMS

INTERNET SETTINGS

Text SETTINGS to 2020
(this doesn't work on quite a few newer handsets)
--OR--
Manually input them into your phone's connection settings as follows:
*These Are The Standard Settings FOR MOST PHONES*
Your phone may not ask for ALL the settings, just put in what you need :smileyvery-happy:

Connection Name: giffgaff - GPRS
APN-Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Proxy Server Address: 193.113.200.195
Proxy Port: 8080
Login-Username: giffgaff
Password: password
MMC: 234
MNC: 10

Make sure the new settings are ACTUALLY SELECTED (usually a green dot or a tick next to the new giffgaff settings)

The 2 most common mistakes are the username and password, they are not your giffgaff login details, the username is 'giffgaff' and the password is the word 'password'

DONT FORGET TO RESTART YOUR PHONE ONCE SETTINGS ARE ENTERED SO THAT YOUR PHONE CAN RECOGNISE THEM

MMS Settings

*please be aware that MMS cost 16p and are NOT included in ANY goodybag*

Connection Name: giffgaff - MMS
APN-Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Username: giffgaff
Password: password
Server: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
MMSC: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN Type: mms

Re: Could not activate cellular data network

Your APN is wrong - follow the advice above.  Surely you must remember entering the giffgaff settings previously?  The iOS5 update wipes them out and you have to re-enter.  Don't forget MMS settings as well.

Re: Could not activate cellular data network

hi, i also updated to ios5 and the cloud, i manually put in my new giffgaff settings, i had to turn my phone off for about 5 mins but worked fine once rebooted, as mentioned above the ios 5 wipes everything out and will return u to o2, settings. everytime u update your iphone it will do so again as far as im aware
