I understand that giffgaff uses the o2 network, so I was hoping I could use a giffgaff sim for an internet connection on a recently purchased o2 phone.
Three days ago I purchased an o2 phone from their store with an o2 30-day simplicity contract. I popped a giffgaff sim, with internet access, into the phone hoping to get an internet connection. Unfortunately I didn't get an internet connection. I did however with the o2 simplicity sim.
I don't know why I can't get internet access on a giffgaff sim. Is the phone locked to o2 purchased sims, despite giffgaff working on the o2 network?
Sadly, I may have to leave giffgaff if I can't get the sim to work!
Any help would be gratefully received.

Yes a giffgaff SIM is fully compatible with a locked O2 phone but it needs to have the settings installed.
On most phones just send a text saying "settings" to "2020" and allow the settings to install, if you get an error message please then tell us you make/model of the phone.
If you get a 'your giffgaffed' message then your ready to go.

the settings text doesn't work on an iphone, but an o2 iphone does work on giffgaff.
It's worth pointing out that only o2 phones will work without unlocking, NOT tesco phones or any other which use the o2 network.
I don't work for GiffGaff, I'm just a very happy customer! Views expressed above are my own personal views are not necessarily those of giffgaff.
