Setting up internet on HTC HD2 windows mobile 6.5

I am trying to set up the internet on my HTC HD2 with windows mobile 6.5 so I followed these instructions/settings:

1) After activating your SIM, insert your SIM card into your device and switch it on.

2) Your phone may recognise the network as 'O2 UK'. This is because giffgaff runs on the O2 network, and is nothing to worry about. If your phone asks you if you would like to retrieve O2 settings, then decline, as O2 settings are not compatible with giffgaff.

3) Go to Start.

4) Go to Settings.

5) Go to the Connections tab (located near the bottom of the screen).

6) Tap the Connections icon (near the top).

7) Go to the 'Advanced' tab (located near the bottom of the screen).

8) Tap the Select Networks button.

9) In both of the drop-down boxes, choose 'My ISP'.

10) Tap 'ok' in the extreme top-right corner of the screen.

11) Go the Tasks tab (located near the bottom of the screen).

12) Tap/press 'Add a new modem connection'.

13) In the 'Enter a name for the connection:' box, type 'giffgaff'(or any other name you want).

14) In the 'Select a modem:' drop-down box, select 'Cellular line (GPRS, 3G)'

15) Press the Next soft key on the extreme bottom-right of the screen.

16) Under 'Access point name:' type exactly giffgaff.com

17) Press the Next soft key.

18) Set the user name as giffgaff

19) Set the password as password

20) Press the Finish soft key on the extreme bottom-right of the screen.

21) Tap 'ok' in the extreme top-right corner of the screen twice.

22) Go to the Personal tab (located near the bottom of the screen).

23) Tap/press the Phone icon.

24) Click on the 'Advanced' tab near the bottom of the screen (you may need to scroll by tapping/pressing on the 'right' arrowhead on the right-hand side of the tabs).

25) Make sure Disable phone packet data service is unchecked.

26) Tap on HSPA Setting.

27) Choose 'Enable HSDPA / HSUPA' in the drop-down menu.

28) Tap 'ok' either in the bottom-left or top-right corner of the screen.

29) Tap 'ok' in the top-right corner of the screen.

30) Tap the 'X' button (where the 'ok' button was) once.

Your internet should now be set.

However I still cannot get the internet to work. I emailed an agent to check that my data bar was still active and they said all was fine.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

Re: Setting up internet on HTC HD2 windows mobile 6.5

Turn your phone off, take the sim out, give it a good clean. It actually could work from time to time.

Otherwise try texting "settings" to 2020.

Here is Giffgaff's guide to the HTC HD2, try following that :http://support.giffgaff.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/484/kw/HTC%20HD2

Re: Setting up internet on HTC HD2 windows mobile 6.5

You do realise your phone can run android,wp7 + mango,meego,ubuntu... Anyways, when i had the phone I googled how to setup internet on htc hd2 and followed that

Here are the basic APN Settings. Which "should" work on all phones - Enter these in your phones settings menu:

GPRS-3G Settings

Connection Name: giffgaff - GPRS
APN - Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Proxy Server Address: 193.113.200.195
Proxy Port:8080
Login - Username: giffgaff
Password: password
MCC: 234
MNC: 10

MMS Settings

Connection Name: giffgaff - MMS
APN - Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
Username: giffgaff
Password: password
Server: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
MMSC: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
MMS proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms
The settings you need to enter depends on your phone.

Re: Setting up internet on HTC HD2 windows mobile 6.5

I have been tempted to run ubuntu (as i use that on my desktop) but i quite like the HTC sense graphics!

Texting 2020 doesn't work (i tried that first) i need to manually input settings.

Thanks, I'll try adding proxy ports/changing settings slightly and see if that helps...

Do you have a signal?

Is everything else working, calls and texts etc.?

Sorry, but have to ask, do you have credit or a data inclusive goodybag?

You can get htc sense with android :smileyvery-happy: and a newer version at that. Never tried ubuntu on it so I can't comment.

Re: Setting up internet on HTC HD2 windows mobile 6.5

Might look into android then. Never used it myself, but heard many good things about it!

I have plenty of credit, so shouldn't be that. I can call and text fine, signal is 3 or 4 bars. I think i just don't have quite the right settings yet, or haven't checked/unchecked a box somewhere. but i've been through it several times now and its getting tiresome!
