Re: internet settings on nokia n8

Try texting the word ‘SETTINGS’ to 2020. This is free of charge and should setup the settings for you without any hassle on most handsets.

Follow this guide for setting up your iPhone correctly for use on the giffgaff network.

[ Edited ]

Go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations on your Nokia N8. This is the Network Destinations menu, where you will see all the phone's current access point definitions grouped by "Destinations". Here's how to input giffgaff network settings in there...

Cellular Data

Create a new access point called giffgaff.com and put it at the top of the "Internet" destinations like this...
Select "+ Access point" (Add new acc. pt.)
At prompt "Automatically check for available access points" choose No, then at the Select access point: prompt, choose "Packet data"
Set Packet data access point name to giffgaff and Destination to Internet
From the Network Destinations menu, select "Internet (n access points)". If your giffgaff APN is not top of the list (Priority 1), get it there by touch-and-holding it to bring up the menu, selecting change priority, then touching the APN that is currently at the top of the list. Your giffgaff APN should now swap to the top of the list.
Now you have to edit the giffgaff APN settings...
Touch the giffgaff APN to get to edit mode and set these values:
Connection name: giffgaff
Data bearer: Packet data
Access point name: giffgaff.com
Username: giffgaff
Prompt password: No
Password: password
Authentication: Normal
Homepage: None
and use Back to return to the Network Destinations menu.
Now power the phone off and on again.
You should now be able to start the Web Browser, and it will indicate what connection it is trying to use. If it's not using your giffgaff APN, use the Web Browser > Settings > General > Access point: Internet
Use Main Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Connection manager to see what connection is active at any time.

Re: internet settings on nokia n8

You'll need to install the Giffgaff APN's as the O2 ones are not compatible.

Follow this guide:

Start Here...

Go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations on your Nokia N8. This is the Network Destinations menu, where you will see all the phone's current access point definitions grouped by "Destinations". Here's how to input giffgaff network settings in there...

Cellular Data

At prompt "Automatically check for available access points" choose No, then at the Select access point: prompt, choose "Packet data"
Set Packet data access point name to giffgaff  and Destination to Internet
From the Network Destinations menu, select "Internet (n access points)". If your giffgaff APN is not top of the list (Priority 1), get it there by touch-and-holding it to bring up the menu, selecting change priority, then touching the APN that is currently at the top of the list. Your giffgaff APN should now swap to the top of the list. Now you have to edit the giffgaff APN settings...

If it's not using your giffgaff APN, use the Web Browser > Settings > General > Access point: InternetUse Main Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Connection manager to see what connection is active at any time.If theWeb Browser connection attempt is using the giffgaff APN but is failing instantly, you may have a new giffgaff SIM that still has Data Barring in place. Use the Support tab to contact giffgaff and ask them to lift the bar. MMSFrom the Network Destinations menu, create a new destination called "Media Messaging", by selecting Options > New DestinationNext, create a new access point called giffgaff MMS and put it in the "Media Messaging" destination like this...
