Re: iphone 5 settings , cant send photos to email ??

Check your settings against these ...???

There are three iPhones in my family that use these settings successfully. (3Gs, 4, 4s) Running IOS 5.1.1 IOS 6

You need to install these manually...

Go to " Settings " ....

          " General " ....

          " Mobile Data " ....

Then  " Mobile Data Network "

Mobile Data

APN ... giffgaff.com

Username ... giffgaff

Password ... password

Visual Voicemail (just leave as is, giffgaff do not support visual voicemail)

MMS

APN ... giffgaff.com

Username ... giffgaff

Password ... password

MMSC http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc

MMS Proxy 193.113.200.195:8080

Max message size 2097152

MMS UA Prof URL (just leave blank)

Do NOT press the " Reset Settings " button when you’ve done this.

Once the settings are in, turn your iphone off ( via the red slider ) till the screen is completely blank. Then reboot. If you do not see the apple logo, the settings will not stick.

Then, press “ Settings “…“ Messages “ and ensure that " MMS Messaging " button is set to ON.

In " settings " " messages " turn imessages on.

Please also ensure that the " Enable 3G " button and the " Mobile Data " button are set to ON. (Press Settings, then General, then Mobile Data).

Then " Settings " ... " Phone " .... And check " My Number " is correct

Go to " Settings " ... " Carrier " and change to O2-UK.

Also note that Picture messages cost 16p and are not included in any goodybags.

Hope this helps.  ...   :smileyhappy:

Re: iphone 5 settings , cant send photos to email ??

After an iOS update you will need to re-enter all the giffgaff data and MMS settings again as it wipes them out during the upgrade.

Have you set up your iPhone for data? You have to set these up manually.

Goto Settings> General> Mobile Data> Mobile Data Network (scroll to bottom to see)
Now enter these settings
APN: giffgaff.com
USERNAME: giffgaff
PASSWORD: password

MMS
APN: giffgaff.com
USERNAME: giffgaff
PASSWORD: password

MMSC: http://mmsc-ac.mms.o2.co.uk:10021/mmsc
MMS proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
MMS Max Message Size: 2097152
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave blank]

DON'T PRESS RESET just go back up the menu
Then pop it into airplane mode then off again and all should now be working.

Re: iphone 5 settings , cant send photos to email ??

to send email you need internet settings and pop email settings if sending from phone

search for your current email providors settings, giffgaff internet settings are below

first disable data...the dial *100# to check your balance

then, if you still have your credit, from any other internet connected device login to your giffgaff account and activate a goodybag from airtime balance

finally dial *100*7# to make sure your goodybag has activated

once all the above is done then remember to turn back on your data...if internet still not working check son settings as below

manually enter if texting settings to 2020 does not work

name - giffgaff
apn - giffgaff.com
username - giffgaff
password - password

good luck

@alexc33 you mentioned: "After an iOS update you will need to re-enter all the giffgaff data and MMS settings again as it wipes them out during the upgrade."

This is incorrect. An upgrade does not remove any settings.

The only time the settings are removed are if you 'restore' the phone (and its settings)..

An upgrade gives you two choices.. simply upgrade or restore and upgrade.

Please give KUDOS and/or 'Accept as Solution' if I have helped.

Re: iphone 5 settings , cant send photos to email ??

Make sure your mobile data settings are correct. An easy way to do this:

While you are still connected to wifi on your iPhone, browse over to http://www.unlockit.co.nz

Click on 'Create APN' in the menu at the bottom of the screen, then select the country and network you want.. in this case, United Kingdom and giffgaff an then click on the 'Create APN' button and then install.

Once it is done, I would advise rebooting your phone by pressing the on/off button and the button on the front (home button) at the same time for about 10 seconds. You will note your phone switches off. The simply press the on/off button to restart the phone.

If this does not work for you then the problem lies elsewhere - in your email server settings.. and you have to make sure the SMTP server settings are set up correctly... you may find that emails are still sitting in the 'Outbox' waiting to be sent rather than being in the 'Sent' box.

Hope this helps.

Re: iphone 5 settings , cant send photos to email ??

Actualy an update does change the settings. What settings it changes depends wether you have a profile installed or not.
If you don't have a profile the mobile data and mms apn's and usernames will be changed to
Idata.o2.co.uk and vertigo
If you have a profile installed only the mms apn and username will change .
The reset of the mms settings are fine
All that needs changing back is the apn's back to giffgaff.com the usernames can remain as vertigo. They're not important

Re: iphone 5 settings , cant send photos to email ??

@sloz My experience has been totally different.. even going through from iOS 5 and all the iOS 6 beta versions. However I guess, as you have pointed out, those with profiles installed do not have the issues of settings changing... I haven't needed to change any setting or re-install the profiles in my phone or any other phones that I maintain for my 'Apple' customers. :smileyhappy:
