Thanks for the tip. When I am in Japan (as of a week or so) should i use same settings or different ones? Very grateful your advice.

No, you don't need too. plus it would work when i did.

the green icon on the right hand side, is just the default APN.

Hi Niyan123,

When you are in Japan you need to be careful about data. At the moment giffgaff are not supporting roaming data, so I don't think it will work at all.

That is correct Because we've set the data to be free at the moment, we've disabled the roaming function on it. Cause otherwise it could end up costing us an absolute fortune

We will obviously be turning it on once we've figured out what we'll be charging for the data. We're still looking at all the suggestions made on that from you guys.

I'm also having Nexus One MMS problems with these settings. I receive the text of the MMS but not the attachment (picture).

I remember having a similar problem setting up my G1 with a Hutchinson 3 SIM. Never did work out the solution. If anyone works it out. please let me know.

Nexus One user striving to find how to make this giffgaff service work.  

Initially (with no change to any settings) phone was able to call landlines only with the giffgaff sim, straight out of the box so to speak, but couldnt call mobile lines or access internet.  It could receive incoming calls from landlines but not from mobiles. 

Then, I followed the instructions in this discussion for setting up the G1 and the phone is now set up per these instructions.  Thank you for posting them whoever posted them.

However,  now the phone is entirely disabled.  Nothing works.  Except wifi,  for which, of course u dont need the giffgaff sim card.

Im now completely out of action (except wifi) .  Help sought to get giffgaff to work on a nexus one

Hi Mike

The more I read about your plight, the more I think you may have a dodgy sim, or a dodgy phone (don't dismiss it, it's possible).

Silly question:  Have you activated your sim correctly? Is it up and running in you "my giffgaff" area of the site?

Have tried another sim in the nexus?

I really hope we can get you up and running, I know how annoying it can be when things don't work the way you want. I am THE most impatient person in the world!

Try giving the sim a wipe?

Whoever did the settings shortcut for the iPhone on GG is a legend! Maybe someone should get in touch with him to try an Android one?

just to let y'all know the internet settings work on my milestone. haven't bothered with the mms ones coz i never sent or recieved any mms before in my life - and i doubt that'll change
