giffyb can you give us a bit moe details about the internet not working:
-does it come up with a message saying " could not activate cellular data network"?
-if so check that all the settings match the last 2 screenshots of my 1st post - if the same try and uninstall the profile, restart, reset the settings to original , restart and reinstall the profile
-if not what happens when u try using the data?

This doesn't seem to work on my ex-O2 iPhone 3G. Has anyone managed to get this working on an unlocked O2 3G?

For MMS it sets itself up on it's own when you send your first MMS - takes about 30 seconds
Hmm - I still seem to be having trouble with MMS on my iPhone. It's not something I use all that often, but it's a pity I can't seem to get it working. I used the invalid.name profile to set up my other data settings but when I try to send an MMS the progress bar just sits at about 90% and then eventually just gives up and I get the red exclamation mark. I did try going in and manually entering the details for MMS as per the Definitive APN Settings post, but that doesn't seem to have helped either.
Has anyone else got MMS working properly on the iPhone? If so what settings do you have under MMS in the Cellular Data settings menu. Mine are currently as follows:
APN giffgaff.com
Username giffgaff
Password password
MMSC http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy 193.113.200.195
MMS Max Message Size 307200
MMS UA Prof URL <blank>
Wonder if it could be something at giffgaff's end perhaps?

simon69c try sending MMS to 1010 otherwise
while manually setting it up you made a mistake for the MMSC anyway it's not MMSC http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002 it's http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002

Well the mediamessaging address is what was in the definitive APN settings post I linked to above, but the mms.o2 address you mention is what I had before I manually changed it and that didn't work either (or now after changing it back). My guess is that either actually works (when the rest of it is working that is
). I suspect it is something at the network end so I've sent MMS to 1010 and I'll see what happens - just got a message back saying they will set it up and text me when it's done...

I know but the iPhone is kind of unique in MMS terms.
Itt sounds like it's all good now then should get an MMS in a minute saying it's set up

mediamessaging is what comes in the settings
I just sent 2 test mms messages to my (Nokia E51) phone, changing to o2 for the second. They both arrived

Works with the 1st Gen iPhone
Restore the iPhone to 3.1.2
*Works with 3.1.3*
Activate with iTunes then follow the instructions at the start of the thread to install the settings... Takes 5 mins max ![]()
