'Hello!' from giffgaff's new community manager

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I'm Vincent Boon, giffgaff's very own 'official' community manager. I'm writing 'official' that way because Clairekav has been filling my shoes for the last weeks and doing a fantastic job, while I was wrapping things up at my last job. But now she can finally fully concentrate on her own job as giffgaff's Retention Manager....thanks Claire.

So today being my first day, Clairekav has officially handed over the reins of community management to me, so while the guys here at giffgaff are trying to get me up to speed as quick as possible, I'm hoping you guys will do the same and let me know what's been going on. I you have any questions or fancy a chat, you can find me on the forums of course, or just send me a private message (Yes, they're now turned on :smileyhappy:).

A little bit of history about me is that I'm actually Dutch (Ya, for sure!) but have been living in the UK for the last seven years. Since then I've worked for Eidos, setting up their beta community for a well known football management game and then worked for Sony Computer Entertainment for the last four years, working with the online communities for the PlayStation 2, PSP and later the PlayStation 3.

So although I'm not a stranger to community management, I am hugely excited about with what giffgaff is trying to do here with you guys. What attracted me to giffgaff is the fact that they're really trying to make this company people powered, and that is exactly what I'm here to try to achieve with everyone in the community. There're not a lot of companies out there who will go as far as giffgaff in involving their communities and I think that we, as the community of giffgaff, need to make the most of this.

So I will keep you all updated on the goings on here at giffgaff via the forums and the blog. Of course we will try to incorporate your ideas as much as possible within the company and keep you up to date on any progress we make with those. We've got many ideas to get you all involved and expect you will have many as well, so I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot of each other :smileyhappy:

See you on the forums,

Vincent

Handing over the giffgaff Community Sheriff Badge to Vincent :smileyvery-happy:

I'm not going anywhere - I'll be just spending more time getting all the giffgaff comm's up and running!

I'll check in from time to time :smileywink:
