we used to have live things in an old acid carboy, was great for magnifying things but when robert the crayfish got too big to get out think it was tricky when he passed away.
love ramshorn snails, used to fish in little stream up road from where grew up. was a mass of life early on, sticklebacks, ramshorns, water boatmen, never saw a caddis fly or found a millers thumb..
then the foaming water came, life trickled out. there were odd jelly things that didn't seem to contain eggs and I don't think were fresh water leeches.
always curious, the bonesgate, pub named after after it was some sort of toll gate I think?
lovely bluebells growing in woods nearby.. we were 20 mins from waterloo and all this up the road, ewell springs, epsom springs, spa town I think. weatherboarded houses and remains from nonsuch palace apparently been stolen since, I remembered a big stone snake coiled up and one museum confirmed it!
are critters bred in this country, was wondering how ensure that virus-free?
we were going to liberate a fish from market stall, it was that fresh it was looking at me but apparently could of damaged local stock 🙁 hubs said it would have brain damage by then anyhow... it flipped a bit and felt rotten leaving it.
