Hi there, please help. I recently decided to try an 'Always on' 20quid package.
I received a notification yesterday saying that I will be throttled to a low speed (can hardly load up my email before giving up) from full speed data as I've used my quota, but my phone says that during the time I have had my goodbag I have used about 8.2 gigs.
There is no summary available for my usage on the accounts page under this deal, and there blatantly will be a lot of times when I have used the data and varying speeds rather than the 'high speed' that Giffgaff quote and are now punishing me for going over a quota.
The whole way of doing this, the wording and to what extent Giffgaff throttle peoples data/ connection speeds needs to be changed and is unacceptable, It should just be called 'About 9 gigs of fast data' after which it is hardly worth paying for.
PS I am aware of Giffgaffs coming changes to this but the throttling is way to harsh and just makes the phone practically unusable. Also there is no allowance for changes in network speed during the use of the goodybag when a customer may be using the data but not taxing the network watching 1080p video. Come on guys it's 2018!
There is no misrepresentation, it is clearly stated what you get in the terms of the Always on, Unfortunately this goodybag was brought in to take the place of what was Unlimited ( And it was Unlimited ) the only problem was there were members who had there phones on downloading 24/7 this clogged the network up and slowed it down for others.
As it would cost more for giffgaff to increase the overal data speeds and that cost would have been put on the customer giffgaff scrapped the Unlimited and brought out the Always on to stop this activity.
I am not saying the speed on the reduced rate is fine as I agree it is pretty dire and useless, but you do know what you are buying when you buy this package.
I have only ever purchased the £20 goodybag a few times when it was first brought in then found it to be pointless and do not buy it now.
You may as well buy the £18 and get 9GB then if you run out buy a new one early.
Regarding your phone saying you have only used 8.2 GB, your phone will not be in sync with the giffgaff data usage counter and this is why there is a difference.
There has been many discusions regarding this package unfortunately they do not lead any where apart from members having there different opinions.
All I can suggest is if you do not like it do not buy it, some people think it is great others think it is rubbish.
everyone to there own
