I can't imagine Apple being interested in changing it, because it was not bought through Apple.

To clarify: if you return the phone as faulty -- which is legally correct, because it's not the described colour and that's a Sale of Goods offence -- then you will be given the option to choose a replacement or a refund -- and presumably somewhere to say what the fault is.
It's only if you incorrectly return the phone as a "change of mind" (which it isn't) that you don't have the option to have it replaced.
