Following some criticism and concerns raised about this advert, we've taken the decision to remove it from broadcast and we would like to say sorry. Abi, our Head of Advertising, has responded below.
I’m Rayelle, the Brand Executive over at the gaff, and have the exciting task of announcing this year’s Halloween campaign. Yay!
Of course, we always want to make sure you lovely lot are in the loop and as up to speed as possible with what’s going on. So naturally, we’ve been dying to share a sneak peek of our 2018 Halloween campaign with you.
First, we thought you might like to know a little bit around why Halloween is such a big moment in the year for us, and the reasons why we continue to work with super talented Directors to create campaigns each year that make us so proud.
We know that Halloween is growing in popularity and for us it gives a great opportunity to launch a campaign while most other brands are waiting to launch campaigns around Christmas. Meaning we are able to cut through at a period in the year where there is less noise in the market.
We disrupt the market by doing halloween (oooh), and this year we are disrupting further by going out on TV (ahhh). We’re running various cut downs of the ad, from five 2” disruptive formats called blipverts which will run in one ad break, to the full 4 minute film with a bunch of more edits in between. You can have a gander at these below:
Full 4-minute video:
6" Rita eats worms:
6" Presents for Esme:
6" Esme at home:

(6” teasers are live on our social channels)
You guys are some of the first to see our full version of this year’s Halloween campaign, A Monster Family. So we hope you love it as much as we do!
This year we collaborated with Matthias Hoene, for those of you who may remember (or even featured in the film), he directed ‘Don’t be scared’ our Zombie film back in 2013 (see:
). Matthias wrote the script and also directed this year’s piece. If you have any questions for him, let us know and we’ll put them to him.
UPDATE: We're now live on social media! So share away 🙂
One last thing... do you also have a wonderful, quirky family with traditions that are a bit unusual ? Why don't you share your monster family story here with a chance to win a shiny, new Samsung Tab A7. You'll also be able to find competition T&Cs on that link too.
Enjoy, and happy Halloween!
