I've just read about GG Gameplan and the new service to obtain one's credit report, and to use the score to get help applying for appropriate financial products.
What I'd like to know please is if there is any inherent advantage in obtaining this credit report via GiffGaff instead of from Callcredit (the credit ratings agency) directly?
Key to what's going to help me make that decision is understanding what the benefits could be. The Gameplan landing page is very vague, marketing the service as "control of one's finances" but in my case I already have a lot of control. However I'm all for monitoring credit score and improving it where possible.
Giffgaff advertises that it'll help us all to improve our score, but how? Also, does our history with Giffgaff count for anything? I just want to understand better the incentives for signing up and how it could actually help me to improve my credit score, rather than just passing a whole load of personal data over to Giffgaff for no tangible benefit other than financial "offers" in the future; offers that I might still not get approved for anyway!
We are in the age of big data, so I'd welcome opinions of how this service will actually benefit before I hand over more personal data to a company.
The perfect answer would be "Giffgaff gives you a credit report, it's easy to apply to make changes and update information, and your history with Giffgaff means that should you want to go over to a phone contract with them, this will definitely help. There are things that can actively be done to improve the score, so it is worth appying directly via this route instead of via Callcredit and you can improve your score quickly and easily"
I'd welcome all your opinions of course, and for those who are signed up to Gameplan to share their experiences of tangible benefits - but, it is important to have as many facts as possible too, to make an informed decision.
Thank you all very much.
