What would you consider a good wage ?
Something more than you need to be comfortable.
At least a starting point of £25k.
I think a comfortable wage would be around £25,000 to £30,000 a year but I guess it all depends on somebodys lifestyle.
I would like to be on £25,000 my wage is rubbish but atleast im not on min wage but im not far off ☹
I do have friends on a lot less than me and I do wonder how they live and the answer is they are constantly struggling.
Don’t fall over folks but I tend to agree with @michaeldunha on this, based on the cost of living in Oxfordshire and people I know on about 10k less. A wage of £30k would mean (providing people were realistic about their expectations) allow a comfortable living for an individual with sufficient spare income to deal with emergencies such as broken white goods. Probably not enough to get on the property ladder down south sadly but I do think that we need to re-evaluate the obsession with home ownership and housing in general (that’s an aside though).
Sadly that number is simply not a realistic figure for many - employees and employers (being able to pay) alike.
Since I'll never have a "proper" job, I dont really have a concept of salaries/wages in the yearly sense..
A good wage to me, is whatever leads to a comfortable lifestyle, but still have time to follow hobbies 🙂
And anywhere outside of Lancashire guaranteed never to get a mortgage big enough to purchase a house. @andyslc
