I think they discontinued them cos got bank details and signature - makes it easy for identity theft?
They used to have all your account numbers on till receipts and one hotel up london I think was caught just dumping them in bins out back - so of course people rifled thru those and helped themselves. Bit careless, was a posh place I think, maybe 20 years ago tho. Spose fraud and they eventually worked out the link!
