It’s been a year or so since our last team update, and we know how important it is that you know who’s responsible for what in our community team. Since we now have a shiny new home I thought it would be a great time to share some team news.
Over the last year, we’ve grown and changed - we’ve had a few new folks appear and said goodbye to some others, and we’ve taken on new challenges that need new skills. As responsibilities have shifted, we’ve reorganised the community team a little to fit.
Let’s start with the people that are closest to you, our Educators. We know how important it is for you all to have someone to reach out to, so here they are: @dez_d , @guy_ow @simone_w , @_kara_ , @alexandra_mg .
We also know it is important that we make sure that our Educators have enough bandwidth to be able to spend time on other things than just the day-to-day monitoring of our community. This is why we will be bringing in 3 new Junior Educators giving the entire team more time to get involved in conversations with you all and be there when you want to chat.
As you might imagine with the Educator team growing, we need to make sure they have all the support they need, so I am pleased to announce that @paul_d_ and @scousema will be stepping in to become our first Shift Leads. Their main responsibilities include supporting the Educators, acting as an escalation point for any Educator related situations and coming up with new ways of making sure your day-to-day community life is as great as it can be.
As before, @arlettak is the person looking after our Educators and Shift Leads, but her role will be expanding to include forum strategy and unity between all different forum areas (help, engagement and labs) making sure that as we do more we have consistency in the way we approach everything.
We also want to make sure that everyone in the business has the opportunity and the support they need in order to be able to communicate with you all. As he’s been here longer than any of us and has spent so much of that time getting to know you all, @t_will will be taking on the responsibility of supporting giff-staffers put their best foot forward when sharing news with you. He’ll also be looking after rewards and recognition across the forum and making sure he brings the community perspective into all projects across the business.
When it comes to the technical management of the platform @alex_w is still your main guy. With a lovely new community platform there will be loads of exciting things we can do in the future and Alex will be person to deliver all of that, along with his team of developers.
That leads us into the specialised areas of our community:
Help: Stepping into the role of Community Help Manager, @antonlg will be chief of how we approach one of the most vital parts of our community, making sure we provide the right environment for members to get the support they need. Anton will be working alongside @h_henna who will be looking after our helpers, giving them the information and tools they need so that they can do what they do best every day.
Labs: As you already know, we have @holly_bc looking after our labs group and the interaction members have with the labs platform, making sure we make the most out of our members willingness to share their ideas and thoughts about what we can do to improve giffgaff in the future.
Now that’ve we got all of that out there, there is only one thing left to do to give you folks an understanding on how we bring it all together. So, it gives me enormous pleasure to announce formally that @roxy_r, is your new Head of Community.
@roxy_r has been with giffgaff for four years, and many of you will know her well from her time as an Educator and from heading up our help and support areas at giffgaff. As Head of Community her role will be to create a unified vision and direction for one of the most important parts of giffgaff - the community. She will be spending time with people from the community team and outside of it to help set the strategy for help, labs, and run by you as well as any other initiatives and projects that we will be considering in the future.
I think this team puts us in a brilliant position to grow and evolve as we near the end of our tenth year and embark on a really special journey together. Thank you all for being here and I hope you'll join me in congratulating the team on their new roles!
