endorphin instead you are just taken to the thread's OP.
The current intention is to take you to the first unread post in the thread, which may be the opening post but usually is not. In the preview a number of cases where it goes to a previous thread that has already been read.
This is still happening just as much, but I've not been listing them, because there were probably already enough examples in the preview to allow this to be investigated when the time comes to find the cause.
One new instance that's come up since launch is that threads which have been imported from lithium and had no posts since the import will always open at the opening post. This applies even if the option to mark all threads as read has been used.
Anyway, back to
endorphin you would expect to jump to that latest post
Though that would be logical, I'm not sure it's what you really want if you think it through.
- suppose yesterday a thread had 60 posts and you have read them all
- overnight, another 10 posts have been added
- the statement joblogs replied 7 minutes ago relates to post 70, but is that really where you want to go? If you did, you would miss unread posts 61 to 69.
My reckoning is that to avoid missing those unread posts, the status should say something more llike "bettybatter and 9 others replied in the last 5 hours" and clicking on it should take you to post 61 from Betty.
But that's exactly where the link would be going, if it was working reliably as a jump to first unread message. So I think it's probably only the message that needs to change and the jump fixed so that it always goes to the correct first unread message.
