Sometimes the message to say your number is being transferred is sent out a little early when the Transfer is still actually in progress and can take up until 9pm on the day of the transfer.
SIM activation and transfer usually takes 30 minutes to 4 hours, but in exceptional cases might take up to 24 hours. PLEASE NOTE: Number transfers are not processed during weekends!
The Transfer will be completed on the next porting day. Later than that or submitted any time on a non-porting day, it will go through on the second-next porting day as below:
Between 17:01 on Friday and 17:00 on Monday - Tuesday
Between 17:01 on Monday and 17:00 on Tuesday - Wednesday
Between 17:01 on Tuesday and 17:00 on Wednesday - Thursday
Between 17:01 on Wednesday and 17:00 on Thursday - Friday
Between 17:01 on Thursday and 17:00 on Friday - Monday
NOTE: Requests made on Friday are processed on Monday. Requests made on Saturday and Sunday are processed on Tuesday. Also no transfers occur over public holidays e.g Bank Holiday.
*Porting days are normally the same as working days, i.e. Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays but occasionally extra non-porting days are declared, particularly around the Christmas holiday period.
Your number will be shown on your Account Dashboard https://giffgaff.com/dashboard and sent in a welcome message as soon as the SIM is ready to use.
Also, try restarting your handset periodically, this often helps to get service working too!
