Transferring your mobile number from your previous Network to giffgaff only takes 3 easy steps as detailed below.
Step 1: Setup your giffgaff Account and Activate a giffgaff SIM
First Register and set up a new giffgaff Account https://giffgaff.com/ and wait till your giffgaff SIM is fully activated before starting the transfer (This can take upto 24 hours to complete, so it's best to wait at least that long before carry out the Transfer with your PAC Code detailed below). You can activate your giffgaff SIM here https://giffgaff.com/activate
Please ensure you wait for your giffgaff Account and SIM to be fully setup and Activated before you proceed to transfer your Number from your previous provider, the giffgaff SIM Activation process can take from a couple of hours to 24 hours in rare cases!
Step 2: Get your PAC Code (from current Mobile Network provider)
Transferring your phone number from your current Mobile Network provider requires a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC). You must ask your previous mobile operator for the code and then give it to giffgaff as detailed below under Step 3.
To get the PAC code text 'PAC' to 65075 from the number you want to transfer. This SMS is free of charge!
Step 3: Request the transfer
Once you have received your PAC from your current mobile provider and ensured that your giffgaff Account/SIM is fully Activated:
Go to the transfer form https://giffgaff.com/support/transfer/pac
Fill the form, including the number you wish to transfer to giffgaff, the PAC and the date you wish the transfer to take place on. NB this date must be within the next 14 days.
Once you're done, submit the form by clicking on "Transfer your number"
That's it, you just have to wait for the transfer to go through.
Please note: The Mobile Network Portability system does not operate on Bank Holidays so you cannot port in to any UK network on those days. Transfers are also not processed during weekends (Saturday's & Sunday's), see the Number porting schedule as detailed below:-
The Transfer will be completed on the next porting day. Later than that or submitted any time on a non-porting day, it will go through on the second-next porting day as below:
Between 17:01 on Friday and 17:00 on Monday - Tuesday
Between 17:01 on Monday and 17:00 on Tuesday - Wednesday
Between 17:01 on Tuesday and 17:00 on Wednesday - Thursday
Between 17:01 on Wednesday and 17:00 on Thursday - Friday
Between 17:01 on Thursday and 17:00 on Friday - Monday
NOTE: Requests made on Friday are processed on Monday. Requests made on Saturday and Sunday are processed on Tuesday. Also no transfers occur over public holidays e.g Bank Holiday.
On the day itself, the port can happen any time between 6am and 9pm. It is not possible to predict or select a specific time; however, most are complete by 3pm. On the day of the transfer, you will experience a loss of service on your old SIM at some stage between approximately 9am and 9pm. As the process is dependent on your previous mobile operator releasing your number, giffgaff cannot offer assurances about the length of time you will be without service.
