The body was found on its back, 3 meters away was the severed head.
2 days earlier.
Carl was had just won $500 at blackjack, (absolute fluke, as he always loses but just can't help himself) he was contemplating those snake skin cowboy boots he'd seen last week downtown, they were smokin' hot.
If he got those it would take all his winnings, but what the heck, it was his, he'd won it fair and square.
He stepped out onto the sidewalk, he had a swagger to him, $500 did that to a man, he'd grown 10cm in height and he felt good.
100m down the road there was a sign pointing to a shop '.The Coiled Cobra.' Carl turned into the alley almost as if he couldn't stop himself, he was drawn inside. Stepping through the door he had goosebumps all over his body.
The woman inside was beautiful, she had violet eyes like he'd never seen in his life, her lips were full, her body was curving in all the right places with her hair tumbling down her back in golden curls to her waist.
She turned, she saw him, their eyes met, he was bewitched.
Next thing he knew he was waking up in his trailer, hot as hell, the sun was beating down, no windows were open and his head was thumping. He had no clue what was going on or more to the point what had gone on. He tried to focus his eyes, it took a while, sitting up helped.
Turning on the forcett, Carl drank greedily, the water was warm, not a thing in this God damn trailer worked properly. Glancing over he noticed a bracelet, picking it up, the words inscribed on it said, NULLUM MALUM AUDIT MALUM NON EST MALUM, NON LOQUI, puzzled he saw there was a small price tag on it, Carl looked, you've got to be kidding me he said under his breath, $500! That woman! She must have tricked him, no way would he have brought this, this thing, it's ugly and he can't even read the words.
Carl staggered from the trailer, he felt rough, he was hungry and he was down $500. He shoved the bracelet into his shirt pocket and headed back downtown. He felt bad, so bad.
Turning into the alley he heard screaming, real bad screaming, whoever it was, was terrified. Then shouting, he couldn't quite make out everything, but a man was in there, yelling about some jewellery, she'd sold it without him knowing, this man was mad truly mad, what should he do? His mouth was dry and his head was thumping. Just as he was thinking, the beautiful woman rushed outside, she was tripping and falling onto the ground, her clothes were ripped and soaked in blood and her makeup ran down her face, a beast of a man followed her holding a machete, it was dripping with blood, she knelt down to beg for her life. "Where is it" he shouted "Give it back you thieving gypsy" Carl must speak up, he had to do something, he staggered out to the woman and stood in front of her, the beast ran back into the shop, Carl followed, what was he doing? His legs just took him, he had no control, the beast was shouting, the machete was dripping, there was blood everywhere, that's when he saw it, the beast, he only had one hand, the other was severed, raw and open, it dripped dark red blood, Carl lunged forward to grab the weapon, as he did so the bracelet fell from his pocket, it landed in the blood, sticky, still warm. The beast saw it, and went ballistic, he let out an animalistic roar, and grabbed Carl, Carl didn't stand a chance, he knew he would die, as he saw the machete come down he closed his eyes, his mouth and covered his ears.
Detective Connor looked at the corpse, he couldn't believe what he was looking at, the head had no ears, no eyes and it's teeth had been smashed in. This was going to be a real long weekend.
The cops turned up to comb the area for clues, forensics put hair and fingernails into sealed bags, they dusted for prints. Murphy found the bracelet, he bagged it.
The bracelet was in Latin.
It read, See no evil, hear no evil speak no evil.
