The news that 2 factor authentication had seemingly arrived for those needing a PAC to port out their giffgaff number had been initiated, prompted me to test it out. So I texted PAC to 65075, I promptly received my PAC by return sms. There was no verification code or prompt to enter a code?
Is that because Ofcom would not approve that process for 65075?
Anyway I cancelled the PAC and instead applied for a new PAC online from my profile. Sure enough the verification code using this process arrived almost instantly.
So it seems that the verification system only works using the online process but that is not entirely clear in the post copied below. Might it be prudent to edit the post, making it a bit clearer?
Two factor authentication when porting out
Summary: We have implemented an additional security feature for members who request to port out.
Members requesting to port out (a PAC code) will receive an email and a text message to verify their request. Once a member has completed the two step authentication process, they will receive their PAC code with immediate effect."
