Sometimes an old (and fairly useless) help and support thread gets bumped up to the top of the list by someone just saying 'Thanks' or 'I have this issue too'.
I was wondering if you think we should auto-lock threads after X days of inactivity. The inactivity clause is to prevent threads that are still going from a long time ago from getting locked.
If it was implemented, should it also have other conditions, such as if a Best Answer isn't set it won't auto lock? Or maybe it should only lock after 14 days inactivity as long as the thread is over 30, 60 or however many days old? Or maybe it should be both?
Just an idea.
(maybe this should be a flow chart -- might be easier to understand)
|Created in the past 14 days||Never locked automatically|
|Created after 14 days, BA set||Locked after 7 days inactivity |
|Created in the past 30 days, no BA set||Never locked automatically|
|Created after 30 days, no BA set||Locked after 30 days of inactivity|
 threads could be locked instantly when the time hits
