Extraordinary week with giffgaff. My debit card expires at the end of this month and I have not yet received a replacement. My Goodybag was due to run out on 7 November so on the 5 November I went to queue my next Goodybag. When I tried to pay with my debit card (remember it is valid until 31st November), the system said my card had expired. giffgaff simply told me that if a card runs out at the end of the month (and they all do) it is considered expired by giffgaff during that month. Unfortunately and despite repeated requests they were unable or unwilling to discuss any reasons why.
As a practice it goes against all standard retail and banking practice. A card is made valid or invalid by the institution issuing it. Why on this earth do giffgaff consider themselves more qualified than the banking community and why would they refuse payment from a perfectly valid card?
Any feedback welcome and a note to the giffgaff CFO: 'please get in line with the retail industries'.
