giffgaff Black Friday pop-up shop - everything you need to know
I've got a really exciting update about what giffgaff is doing for Black Friday! This year giffgaff are launching a pop-up shop in London on Friday 29th November, where nothing is for sale! Something totally different for one of the busiest shopping days in the world. You can go down and get involved in some of the fun - and for those who can't drop by, you can still get involved online. Check out all the details below.
In the midst of Black Friday mayhem, giffgaff is launching a Pop Up Shop in Seven Dials, Covent Garden, with a big difference. Nothing is for sale. To enter, people must pay with a pledge and commit to choosing refurbished wherever possible. Using the most commercial moment in the calendar, giffgaff are highlighting that refurbished is a sustainable and savvy choice especially when it comes to phones. Of course, we still sell new handsets, however, this is about giving people the option to choose refurbished, should they wish to.
giffgaff has partnered with Melanie Fisher of Zero Waste Goods, who helped to curate the one hundred items displayed in the store. People will be able to place a pledge for 50 ‘like new’ refurbished phones including the iPhone X, XR, Samsung S10+, plus 50 other refurbished items in the following categories: tech, wellness, homeware, fashion and accessories - with absolutely no money changing hands.
Fisher is an expert in all things sustainable, having curated a marketplace that makes it easier for people to support progressive, planet-friendly brands, find responsible products, and transition to a zero waste lifestyle. It was this insight that was provided when selecting the 100 items in the store.
The items ‘not for sale’ include bikes, plus a pre-owned games console and a turntable made out of recycled materials.
Visitors to the store will be able to get their hands on shoes made from surplus pineapple leaves, bouncy castle wash bags, jewellery made from 100% recycled materials, and covetable vintage tech items restored to be good as new.
How can you get involved from home?
For those of you who can’t make it down in person, but still wish to take the pledge and choose refurbished, we've made this digital pledge for you to share on your social channels.
We are gifting 10 refurbished phones to randomly selected members who take the pledge. So if you, a loved one, or someone in your community could really use a refurbished phone, why not share the pledge? If you do win, then we recommend that you consider submitting your old phone over for refurbishment, so someone else can benefit and make the pledge go further.
Details about the store
The store opens on Black Friday, 29th November.
It will be open from 10am to 5pm and can be found at 9 – 11 Shorts Gardens, Seven Dials, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9A.
Anyone can enter the store as long as they make the pledge. The 100 items will be given to 100 pledge givers, chosen by giffgaff.
Our team are so excited to see our members come out and see this amazing pop-up shop and see how many people share the pledge online. If you have any questions ahead of this event please let me know in the comments.
