I've had this sim a long time as a backup and recently decided to use up the credit while I wait till Jan to get a new phone in the sales.
So I put it in the phone, expecting my £20 to show, did the *100# and the giffgaff glitch gremlin had run off with 1p. I wanted to get 2x£10, one for now and one queued to take me into January, but the system wouldn't let me but the second.
So asked an agent yesterday, not long before midnight. Today, not long before noon, the lovely agent Gavin has added £1.01 to my account, which was plenty more than enough. And giffgaff sent me a text to say look at the agent reply.
So my tip is, when the giffgaff automated systems get it wrong, no need to panic, no need even to ask on the help board, if it's an account thing go direct to the agents.
Personally I'd rather wait 12 hours for a return message than half an hour in a call centre queue. Especially as I could sleep while waiting 😉
So how do we do that?
I started from the dashboard that was showing my wrong account balance, clicked on the link about contacting agents, had to go through a couple of menus saying what kind of issue it was, clicking on "no I still need help" till I got to a screen that invited me to describe my problem.
OK the menus are a little irritating, but in my opinion not as annoying as "press 1 to be ignored for 15 minutes" on a call centre.
And giffgaff don't play naff hold music...
Edit: got the agents name wrong due to taking an incoming call, so it's Gavin should get the credit not as I said originally
