The part of Alex's post you quoted relates directly to Labs, which is and entirely different platform which hasn't been changed at all, therefore should not be in any way affected by the community platform change. Labs won't be changing over for some time, as it would involve a complete rebuild, and other community improvements are of higher priority.
It seems to be a one off issue I believe, with either the automated data export or how it was processed after. Glad it's being corrected in time for this payback, so that all those commenting and voting on ideas are rewarded 🙂
