By watching the video that jaymailsays posted, it doesn't seem to me that he's the opposite of what Labour is meant to be. He's talking about taxing the rich a bit more and funding public services. Very Labour if you ask me.
But even if he was, even Johnson is the opposite of what workers in poorest areas of the country are supposed to vote for, yet he won.
By the way, I liked Corbyn's social programme, but there's no point in being left-wing if that means allowing Tories to win and force brexit and their right-wing policies on us.
Blair did better than Corbyn as far as getting votes is concerned. And - Iraq war apart - was a lot better than a Tories' government.
