timwilliams25 That very question did come up during a discussion (i.e. in the Labs Discussion Group) about possible replacements for the “Always On” goodybag. This was the response from giffgaff:
” Gigabags used to exist in ancient history and they will return in the future. It’s not on the priority list for 2019 but it’s inevitable that giffgaff re-introduce that. It was removed because people got confused and we got a lot of “feedback” and insight suggesting that people could not distinguish between buying goodybags with calls and texts and data and goodybags with just data. We are now in a world where calls and texts are worth as much as data used to be worth barely 5 years ago. I suspect that in a few years, all giffgaff’s goodybags will be “data” and calls and texts will be considered just other types of data. I don’t know. Over the top services and e-sim could change the game entirely.”
Although they probably won’t be marketed as being “gigabags”, it looks like “data-only” plans are likely to be reintroduced at some point in the future. But don’t hold your breath 😉
BTW I’m not suggesting that the“Always On” goodybag is about to be removed from the current lineup, They acknowledged that it causes a lot of confusion (and indeed disappointment) amongst a lot of members, but I don’t think they’ve made any decision about its future.
