its the third time iv had a text on my giffgaff network from
O2 saying they have not been able to process my payment
and wanted me to click thier link which i obviously did not
i deleted and blocked the number
innerspirit thanks seen a few posted today as these scammers try to hit people
innerspirit That's the best thing to do ! If your ever unsure dont click the link !
I'm lucky not to have had any of these texts thankfully !!
innerspirit As they have your number you should consider to:
Change the password to your giffgaff account to a new, strong password you have not used anywhere else.
Change the email address associated to your giffgaff account if you can.
Please contact giffgaff's agents who can advise with you with the relevant steps to take to safeguard your account using this Security Issue form.
If you suspect your bank details may also have been compromised as a result, please alert your bank as soon as possible.
For peace of mind, change any passwords/emails on any other accounts outside of giffgaff that have the same login information. You can use this trusted site https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if you login credentials have been compromised elsewhere.
If you received the scam message as a text then forward it to 7726 (free text) to report it.
There's more information here Security Advice.
innerspirit I keep getting them from EE, I'm not even on EE.
innerspirit you did the right thing. Don't open any suspicious links as well.
innerspirit ive had that last week. just pressed and hold until delete option came up.. not opening those messages. even had the covid 19 one the other day.. these scammers need finding and throwing in jail
I just got a similar thing but not from o2:
"From giffgaff: We were not able to receive your last payment. Please follow the link to avoid collections giffcollect.co.uk. In future you can track your usage in our app."
Don't be fooled!
thanks everyone for your replies, stay safe
