i'm puzzled about the fact that in my account giffgaff asks me to activate my sim when i did it exactly after receiving it? Also, when I click the "sim swap" button I get this message: Oops. You can't use this service at the moment as you've reported your phone or SIM lost or stolen. Try again once you've activated your new SIM.
However, I never reported my sim lost or phone lost. What's going on, giffgaff??
Is it possible you're logged into an incorrect account?
Could you text pass to 43430 (top up number,free to text from an active giffgaff sim).
You'll receive a reply with your membername,email address associated with your account and password reset link (the latter only if needed).

If you're certain you were logged in to the correct account, that could be a serious matter.
I'd suggest you report it to an agent at https://support2.giffgaff.com/app/ask/SIM-and-number/Performing-a-SIM-Swap/form/ and meanwhile I'll flag this @report_phishing so that you get the official security help

From what you have described it does sound like you are logged into the wrong account and so in order to help you further we really need to know the account name we could be dealing with.
Follow the advice here and post back when you can. Text NUMBER to 43430 will confirm the membername associated to the SIM.
