But is that not going to make things even more complicated that I topped up but can’t use my topup before selecting a goodybag or assigning it as airtime credit? That extra step would even make things worse for those getting caught in the two-step now. Because that would then be a three step process of sort.
I see your point though. My issue with this is that I have never seen or heard giffgaff come out to tell us the reasons why this happens officially so we can think about potential solutions. Without understanding the issue fully, we can’t provide potential solutions.
There are logical reasons:
-like delayed data charges
-payment platforms a member goes through before payment is made eating up a kb here or there
- glaring obvious reason of simply accessing a site that isn’t free rated hence credit dropping before exchanging credit for a goodybag etc.
But the 1p or 2p charges still baffles me unless giffgaff systems work out the 5p/mb into kb.
We’ve had surveys and debated before about the wording of airtime credit and a goodybag etc. Not sure if these were put in practice and if they were, is it being assessed over a period to see if it’s made any difference? Who knows but yes something needs to be done about it.
One solution I could think about is on activation, a welcome text goes out explaining this from the very start. I know emails go about about it. Whether people read it or not is another thing.
