It's the bangers.. horrible to see everything peaceful and birds settling to roost then all the panic, must be terrible shock for them - we meant to be a nation of animal lovers but we treat nature like rubbish at times.
liked fireworks as a kid but they were little and a lot quiet then, like flippin bombs or explosives now! Don't know why people keep buying them, just seems to be a show offy thing - look how much money we burning etc?
we were up chichester on city wall, birds peacefully flying in a group across sky then even before we heard anything they suddenly scattered. Must have heard a high pitched squeal as rocket went up - then it went bang and visuals. By time got home it was like armageddon in our area - on a sunday and getting on for 9pm. Cat was traumatised, left home a fortnight later, even few years later panics if hears any odd ones or stuff on telly. You see the big display up london and all the birds panicking, probably flying into buildings to break their necks, horrible. All so artificial, noisy and also the stink it makes. Yep I don't like fireworks and pretty sure not alone in that feeling.
They've narrowed down time we can use them but how do you enforce it? Ought to be just supplied for public displays on several nights of year - got to keep chinese, hindus and guy fawkes fans happy I guess. Think it works out 3 nights a year and then there's odd displays like lewes which is another day again but tradition goes back centuries..
considering the injuries fireworks have caused over the decades i don't really see how it honours nhs workers, they probably sick of people coming in with burns. people are fed up with drugging their pets up to cope with it too... expensive and not nice for the animal is it?
