Hello louisebirks. I understand what you mean about being worried. It's tough when you don't really know what's going to happen and you don't feel safe.
I can't remember if you work in a Primary or Secondary school?
I'm Secondary, and after my Head informed us of his plans for Yr 10 coming back into school from June earlier in the week, we all received an email from him yesterday afternoon saying all may be cancelled after a meeting between the Dept of Education and the Heads Union on Friday. It appears the science isn't as clear cut as the government had led them to believe.
Long story short, it could be plans for Yr 10 are abandoned, or at least cut back. His union implied more 'clarification' will come out of the Dept for Education over the coming days.
It could be there will be a similar re-think for Primary. So try not to worry too much. A week is a long time in these Covid 19 times.
It does seem your school management are a bit dictatorial. Mine are trying to rely on volunteers as much as possible and are keeping their door open to anyone with concerns if they are being asked to do something they are worried about. Have you tried talking to your line manager about your concerns. Most people are reasonable if you let them know you are stressed about a situation.
Keep your ears open. We know this government likes to make big announcements in the press at prime time.
