That's a big habit, 3 bottles of wine.
Is this regular?
Have worked with substance misuse people and the approach is that they only help people who want to be helped and want to stop. Otherwise wasting resources and banging head against a brick wall..
There's usually a reason for substance misuse, some trauma, either as a child or adult or else just depression, sensitivity and it blocks out the pain a bit.
Expensive pastime though and will have impact on health at some point, moods too. Nothing more boring than being sober with someone drunk too, it's ugly.
Someone we knew drank regular, ended up with bladder cancer, said was probably the booze (or could have been the ciggies cos gets excreted via wee and constant irritant). Another mate drank himself to death, lovely bloke and such a waste. Took maybe 20 years but last time saw him he obviously had liver problems, was yellow and had lost so much weight, didn't recognise him.
Rotten time at moment but when things calm down might be worth thinking about ultimatum, depends on circumstances.
Hubs was drinking a lot when I met him but I saw a good person and he's gradually cut down over the years - because he wanted to. Left him in beginning because of mood swings and grumpiness because of booze. Made him think? Just breaks your heart to see someone you love damaging themselves.
We all guilty and got our faults. See if can find out why she doing it. Boring times at mo too, stuck indoors and uncertain times. Has the drinking always been there and just noticing it more cos indoors together more?
They probably still running telephone services for AA or similar orgs, if she can't talk to you then maybe worth having a chat with them, it shows willingness too.
If it's the odd binge then maybe not so much to worry about. i had too much the other day but was a special celebration and payback took 2 days, haven't had anything to drink since!
Unusual that someone who doesn't indulge gets together with someone the opposite. Often birds of a feather and can be each others worst enemy, perpetuates the problem.. Health is all we have. I smoke a little and too fat but we eat well and have walks and a reasonable standard of health at the moment, fingers crossed cos all getting older🙂
