Another thread was split this morning while I was replying to it. It’s a very frequent occurrence and certainly not “rare” because members are forever posting Help requests on arbitrary threads where they don’t belong. So if it’s a recent message and a member reports that the post needs moving, there’s a good chance that somebody will be replying to it at the the thread is split.
That might be a rarer occurrence on other forums, but on giffgaff it’s something that happens all day, every day.
Anyway, I confirm that the links do link correctly between two threads, both backwards and forwards.
The only thing that doesn’t currently happen is to post the message in the correct thread and that’s surely the most important thing, because the average member is not going to check whether the post they replied to got moved before their post.
It’s surely possible therefore to use that link to ensure that the reply is posted into whatever thread now contains the original message, rather than blindly posting it into the wrong thread?
