endorphin As some organisations run out of IPv4 addresses, they are offering reduced price services, for example Virtual Private Servers, that only have an IPv6 address. I currently have to go via a port-forwarding server when I don’t have an IPv6 connection.
Static IP addresses would be possible with IPv6, although I guess there might be some privacy concerns. Allowing incoming connections would also be possible, although probably unexpected and unwelcome for most users. I believe EE have blocked incoming connections.
VPN and VoIP solutions should be more straightforward and reliable, without having to work around NAT related problems.
With CGNAT getting more complex and expensive, it is likely that IPv6 will be lower latency.
