I haven’t been on here for a long time due to illness and personal stuff going on, but was compelled to post after reading something very disturbing on Twitter, which incidentally, was completely backed up by a very much liked, and respected, ex giffgaff employee. I imagine giffgaff were already alerted to the thread and are desperately trying to limit damage control behind the scenes. But this, no doubt, will eventually hit the tabloids.
I won’t link to it yet because I’d like a comment from giffgaff themselves. But the person (another ex employee) the disturbing information was about has now deleted their Twitter account, which screams of (probable) guilt to me. I won’t name the (alleged) perpetrator yet either, who is also known to most on here, but it’s on Twitter so it’s already out in the public domain. But this is as much about giffgaff as it is about the (alleged) perpetrator.
So giffgaff, what is your policy on sexuaul harassment in the workplace? Because if what I read is true, which i’m pretty sure it is, you need to seriously up your game and send people on sexuaul harassment awareness workshops on how NOT to behave in the workplace, and for giffgaff management to NOT call victims ‘bítches’ for reporting said harassment. I’m appalled and saddened that the person who was brave enough to speak up and show proof of what was happening, and had been for a long time, was called a ‘bítch’, told to ‘get over it’, ‘stop going on about it’ and ’it wasn’t that bad’, all said by higher management. Imagine how that must’ve felt, to be degraded all over again by people she should’ve been able to trust.
Perhaps we could get a comment from the CM, or better still the CEO, because this is a very serious matter that was going on in your company (which according to the victim/accuser, you personally knew about) and now it’s out there in public it needs addressing. It can’t be swept under the carpet anymore, or bury your combined heads in the sand. I, for one, wouldn’t want to be associated with a company that treats victims like that. You saw countless people quit because of this harassment, yet still turned a blind eye to it. You were complicit, no two ways about it. The problem with covering things up though, is that eventually the truth will out.
I just hope all the victims now come together, because there were many over the 4 year period that the (alleged) perpetrator worked at giffgaff, and take legal action. Their voices weren’t listened to when it was happening to them, maybe they will be now.
Other victims, who were not giffgaff employees, have also spoken out that it also happened to them when they worked with him in other companies. There’s a pattern.
If giffgaff need any help setting up a workshop feel free to pm me and I will point you in the right direction. But please do not pm me just because i’ve outed the regime of sexual harassment that you allowed to go on, and cover up, because you won’t get a reply from me.
When i think back to the mass banning a few years ago of some well liked members, calling them a ‘gang’ for just having the same thoughts on things, when that disgusting behaviour was being carried out behind the scenes, and giffgaff did nothing about it, just astounds me. The whole thing stinks.
Ethics, morals, the law, #MeToo, etc…
