As most of the educators know, I sadly spend some time checking for incorrectly set ‘best answers’. There are surprisingly quite a few of them and a lot have obviously been set accidentally, just not understanding the system properly or, of course, gaming.
Since helpers will assume a thread with a best answer set is no longer in need of help this can be unhelpful to new members getting the best service. It also can be frustrating for helpers whose payback can be affected by these occurrences.
What would be good is if an attempt is made to set a best answer on an OP’s post that a suitable message/warning is displayed and this has to be accepted to confirm the setting of their own ‘best answer’. Ideally if an own best answer is still then set (this can be a valid option) a record (a post report or discussion with a link) is made so that the setting can be checked by an educator as legit.
