lilia36655 Hi there. That’s right… SIM card activations can take up to 24 hours to complete through the system in full, so that’ll probably be why it took 24 hours to be able to make calls and send texts.
If you are still having problems receiving calls, perhaps there’s an issue with the network in your immediate location right now (for example, a phone mast isn’t working)? Please use the giffgaff network status and coverage checker to keep tabs on any faults or maintenance in your area this Morning. Select the service you are having trouble with (calls) and search for your location to see if there are any known issues.
If there are no issues reported in your location, please try switching your phone off and back on, as that might resolve your incoming calls issue. Another thing you can try is a ‘manual roam’, as this would reset your phone’s network connection and hopefully resolve your calls issue. Please see giffgaff’s Manual Roam Article for instructions on how to perform a manual roam.
If you think that your SIM card has become faulty, please try a SIM swap procedure on a new giffgaff SIM card to rule this out. A SIM swap will transfer everything over to the new SIM card. For more detailed information about SIM Swaps, please view giffgaff’s SIM Swap Article.
If you are still stuck, please raise a case with an agent for assistance and they’ll get back to you within 24 hours. Agent replies can be viewed on the messages from agents box within your account dashboard.
Please see giffgaff’s Network and Service Topics for more information on what to do when a particular service stops working or is problematic.
