ANYBODY ELSE THINK giffgaff IS A JOKE??

Iv been with giffgaff for around 5 years throughout the first 4 years this network was great but now I go through so many issues like missed out on amazing job opportunities because of the lack of signal been poor also money unexpectedly going missing out my bank by giffgaff and now topping my phone up for giffgaff To deduct money off my balance unexpectedly So I can’t buy a goody bag stuck in lockdown with no internet and no customer service only been waiting for someone to get back to me since yesterday! Best thing everyone on giffgaff to do is find a better network because this is a joke

karlj39 sorry you’re having issues. You can buy a goody bag direct instead of topping up first. Less chance of using any credit through data that way. I’ve been with the network for a good few years now and not had any problems but you’re not alone in having issues. Getting involved in the community forums does get you payback though and can seriously reduce your phone bill. No other network gives me that.

karlj39 I personally wouldn’t go as far to say giffgaff is a joke. Nevertheless, I have been experiencing issues with poor signal strength these past couple of months. When browsing social media or streaming videos the content takes ages to load. I usually have to turn off and turn on my data for it to load properly other times this doesn’t work and just wait until I’m near a WiFi signal to do what I have to do. One of the friends I referred to giffgaff mentioned her connection is always unreliable whether making phone calls or using data. She is now considering joining her former network.

karlj39 Hi there, So sorry you’ve been having those difficulties with giffgaff recently. Although it’s quite rare things do sometimes go wrong with any network. The vast majority of giffgaff users seem to be very happy with the service they receive. Have you tried to contact an agent, as you say you’re waiting for someone to get back to you? Apart from signal issues, you shouldn’t be getting charged unexpectedly, ie only if you have a recurring payment set up, in which case you can easily cancel any payment methods (paypal, credit or debit card) in your online dashboard. Then there can be no more unexpected payments to giffgaff.

Sorry to hear you’ve been having problems.
I’ve only been with giffgaff about a year and any issues have been answered by the forum. However, I see frequent dissatisfaction from members who use Credit to buy data/calls etc and especially those who use Credit to buy a Goodybag.

I think giffgaff should give some thought to how these issues might be avoided.

The Goodybags themselves are very good, IMO, and straightforward if bought via a debit card. Unfortunately, buying via Credit can sometimes result in a few pence disappearing (due to background App activity) resulting in insufficient left in Credit to buy the intended Goodybag.
Best avoid Credit, if you can, IMO.

What is great about giffgaff is that you don’t have a contract and so you are free to leave when you want. If giffgaff no longer meets your needs then maybe you could look elsewhere.

karlj39 sorry to hear all your problems, I woul contact an agent to make them aware. It would be great if giffgaff could provide a form for people leaving so that they are capturing the reasons. So to see you leave do pop back in the future to see if the service has improved, and giffgaff bis more competitive.

karlj39 I think it is unfair to call giffgaff a joke ok they use the O2 network and you are not going to get perfect signal all over the UK. And the network goes down sometimes. But you are forgetting that giffgaff is the most affordable network out of the big companies. Be thankfull for what you get. I live in Wales where there is lots of trees and mountains and the signal can be a bit patchy in some areas especially if I go up North Wales.

karlj39 I’ve been with giffgaff for 6+ years now and have not had any issues, sorry to hear you are having issues. I guess the issue regarding signal strength would be down to O2 as they provide the network infastructure.

You mean that you added credit “in order to buy a bag” then there’s a solution - don’t do it.

There is no need to add credit in order to buy a bag as bags can be bought directly using all the other payment methods.
And as credit it there primarily to pay for things not covered by a bag (including having one but running out of data or forgetting to renew) and you can’t ring-fence any of it to buy a bag then unexpected (to you) charges can occur.

If however you are charged for something when you shouldn’t have been then that is different and you can and should query it with an agent.

Anyway sorry you aren’t happy but as there are no contracts you are free to do what works best for you, even if that means leaving.

never had an issue personally although only been here 19 months. Having said that was with giffgaff for 3 years previously and never had an issue then either. No contract to stop anyone moving though 🤘

Neither do I. At the end of the day the Network is O2 - have you checked if there are problems with your local masts?

If everything worked well for 4 years I am surprised it has suddenly gone pear shaped. Could it be your mobile device? Have you changed it recently? Strongly recommend you change your SIM. That has worked before for others with similar issues. If you contact me directly I will send one First Class today and you can follow the procedure for a SIM swap.

But that is how giffgaff works! It’s how it has always worked! If you want a mobile service with a call centre, then giffgaff isn’t the place to be. Not really sure why you felt the need to highlight this at all - it’s one of giffgaffs USPs.

The thing is that the community are meant to be support.

If you have problems, you contact the community first. If that doesn’t help, you can contact the agents. Agents should be a last resort, where possible.
