When we launched the £10 golden goodybag in July, we wanted to make sure we are giving back more to those of you who made a commitment to us. A huge chunk of members recur their goodybags every month, and commit to staying with giffgaff when they don’t have to, and we think that’s worth rewarding. Given that the £10 goodybag quickly became one of the more popular ones in the range, it seems like you agree.
So, we want to continue to give back to those of you that commit by purchasing a recurring bundle. I’m really happy to announce that our next golden goodybag, coming October 20th, will have an unlimited UK data allowance. UPDATE: It’s now live.
For £35, you’ll get unlimited UK calls, texts, and mobile internet every month you recur.
Of course, unlimited UK data is a big jump from 80GB, so we’ll be keeping an eye on how people use it. It’ll be fine for personal mobile use, but there are some things we’ll stop people from doing so they don’t hog the network from anyone else. There’s more details like this in our Fair Usage Policy, but the basics are - we’ll take a closer look at your usage if it looks like you might be using it inappropriately. We think that’ll cover the vast majority of people.
I think that’s all pretty exciting - hopefully, you do too. This goodybag will be available
starting on October 20th now for new members joining giffgaff, members using the app, and in your recurring options, so you’ll be able to jump on it however you like (although it takes a little bit more development work for it to appear for members who don’t currently have a goodybag, so that might come a little later).
We’d love to know what you think.
Update - Oct 22
Hi all. Thank you so much for your comments about the new golden goodybag so far. I have an update for you - unfortunately, we’ve found that the current version of giffgaff’s 5G experience isn’t quite ready - so we’re going to pause until it is. You’ll see 5G pages on the website start to change over the course of today to reflect this. We’ll be working to make sure that we can get 5G available as quickly as we can and we’ll keep you updated with progress.
If you were one of the early birds who ordered a 5G SIM and have already swapped it, it will still work on 4G and below with all goodybags and all phones, so feel free to use it - you don’t need to swap back. Once 5G is available, you won’t need to swap again.
I know this will be disappointing for those of you who were hoping to use 5G on giffgaff very soon, and it is for us as well. We’ll be doing everything we can to bring 5G to giffgaff as soon as we can. As soon as we have any news, we’ll make sure to update you, and for those of you who made purchase decisions based on 5G capability, we’ll be making sure we make it right. We’ll update on that soon.
