Hi, everyone. I’m Alexa, and I’m the Senior Brand & Advertising Manager at giffgaff. I’ve been here for just over 18 months and have loved working on the development of our phones offering - particularly our first ever Refurbished pop up shop last year.
At giffgaff we like to change things for the better. The mobile industry is different now we’re here. But we’re not done. Challenging the established way and improving it is what we do. One of the things that I’ve been working on recently is how giffgaff can better take part in and perpetuate what’s called the ‘circular economy’. If you haven’t come across this phrase before, you’ll most likely have come across the concept - recycling is the clearest example of it in practice. The circular economy is all about making sure that whatever we do create can be repurposed and as little is disposed of as possible.
At giffgaff we are always looking for ways to make sure we’re building a sustainable, responsible, and decent business. You might have seen us talking about it on TV recently, with one of our ‘giffgaff gives back’ adverts featuring our lovely member Kristen. Or maybe you remember it from further back - we’ve always had sustainability at heart.
You’ll start to see a few more things from us soon about how we can all contribute to reducing waste in our daily lives. Watch this space to see how giffgaff gives back this Black Friday - we’ll be making sure there are a wide range of sustainable options for those who want them, and showing you how you can take part even if you’re not yet ready for a new phone.
In the meantime, @muddycalhoun has a bit more on the concept and wants to hear how you contribute to the circular economy - have a look over here and offer your best tips and tricks.
Update, Nov 10th - We’ve just launched our new campaign to encourage everyone to trade in or recycle those old phones you’ve got kicking around (we’ve all got some!) so they don’t end up in a hole in the ground, and support good causes while you’re at it.
Have a read in more detail over here and check your drawers.
