catea18 made another account with the card you sent me
A new account cannot be given the same number as a previous account, except in the case that you’ve had a phone lost or stolen but you seem to be saying nothing was stolen.
If you set up a new account, then you automatically get a new phone number on that account. The only thing you can do with the new account is to use it to contact an agent. You cannot transfer your old number to it.
To keep your number, you have to do a sim swap – which primarily means you must:
- get another new sim, either free from https://www.giffgaff.com/orders/mgm or for about a pound from a supermarket or argos
- between 4.30am and 9.30pm, log in to the giffgaff account with the number or goodybag that you want to keep
- go to https://www.giffgaff.com/activate and enter the 6 character code alongside the sim
- do not accept the offer to set up a new account
The sim should usually be active within 30 minutes but can take 24 hours. Restarting the phone every 30 minutes may help to wake up the service. When the activation is complete, the new sim will have your old giffgaff number, together with its credit and goodybags.
But to repeat, you must do the above while logged in to your old account.
