Hi folks,

A quick update to share with you; we're making a small change to a few numbers that have their own special charging rules, number that start with 07, but aren't mobile numbers. As a bit of context for those who might not be aware, premium numbers and numbers that don't fit in the normal pricing structure are charged as cheaply as we reasonably can charge. The wholesale prices for different numbers change over time, some go up and some go down, so these changes are following that.

Numbers that start with the following will now be included in goodybags and charged from your goodybag minutes, or 10p otherwise:

  • 074588
  • 075599

Numbers that start with the following will now no longer be included in goodybags and will cost 20p per minute:

  • 075200
  • 075201
  • 075378
  • 075379

We'll be contacting every member who has recently called any of these numbers to let them know about the changes, so that no one gets a surprise. This change actually affects a very small proportion of members, so this is just an FYI more than anything.

All the best,

Will

Please confirm the cost of sending a text message to one of these "non-mobile" numbers.

The price list page says these cost 20p per text. There are multiple forum threads stretching back more than four years that suggest that this is a mistake and that the real price is 8p per text.

None of those requests has received an official answer.

Please confirm the status of 074414. This range was added to the Special Charges Code of Practice page (along with the other four ranges) on 2 February 2015. Should this range be added to the Price List or deleted from the Code of Practice?

The "non-mobile numbers" PDF listing is now out of date. Please update this PDF list. See item 10 over here.

I've just tried texting the numbers in this thread and none of those went through, so I'll have to dig around a bit. I'll talk with finance and see if they can confirm for us.

For any of you (like me ) who are nosy, I looked up these prefixes on http://www.area-codes.org.uk

to identify the original issuing network. (Of course the current network may vary if the numbers have been ported)

And since I'd done it anyway, I though that I should share Smiley Happy

These numbers will now be included in goodybags and charged from your goodybag minutes, or 10p otherwise:

  • 074588 << Limitless Mobile
  • 075599 << Lyca Mobile

These numbers will now no longer be included in goodybags and will cost 20p per minute:

p.s. @will23 how much will it now cost to send sms/mms to the second group that have been removed from goodybags?

075378 + 075379 are not listed.

The official file, updated by Ofcom every Wednesday morning, can be found here.
